Happy total solar eclipse of the heart Monday to one and all Chip-denizens! On a momentous day such as today, why bother with watching rare astronomical phenomenon when you could instead have your ears rocked by the constant stream of epic that is another ten tracks from Chiptunes = WIN: Volume 6. Don’t risk your valuable retina, and join us past the fold to hop right in!
A fair and wonderful July to one and all of the Chiprealm! This month, I’m excited to be getting a chance to review the three-times wonderful compilation ‘Chip For Change‘. One time for the amazing talents that are present here, both musically and illustratively. A second time for its dedication to bringing positive vibes into the world, and a third time for donating all of its proceeds to the American Civil Liberties Union. Hop on past the fold where I’ll be diving deep into a few of my favorite tracks, and as an added bonus, the curation team behind the album was kind enough to answer a few questions for our reading audience.
Given his extensive career and the breadth of his library, I’d be surprised if most of our community hadn’t experienced some aspect of the work of Tri Angles (or his previous identity, SMILETRON). If you’re such a reader, it should come as no surprise that ‘Deep Magic’ is a solid addition to the library of any fan of this particular variety of ambient drum and bass. For the uninitiated, I can wholeheartedly recommend this album as a great diving in spot to an extremely mentally engaging artist. Thematically drifting along the spectrum of driven to meditative, ‘Deep Magic’s composition will instill focus and energy into its listeners. Join me past the fold where we’ll take an in depth listen to just a few of the new pieces.
A happy and verdant April to all ya’ll in the Chiprealm! I’m glad to be back after an extremely hectic month of hiatus from writing and I’m bringing a double feature with me. A little something to keep the Forge Stoked on Getting ChipFit. I’m not only going to share with you the brutal weight training routine I’ve been putting myself through these last few months, but also the equally brutal chipmetal that’s been keeping my fire stoked while doing it. Master Boot Record‘s music talent will light that fire in your belly, and the routine is brutal enough that it has both gotten me stronger and kept me sane through some of the harshest work conditions I’ve seen in my twenty years of pulling a paycheck.
Last week on the CWB — the world was in disarray as nasty Russian porn spam assaulted the brave viewers of the mobile version of the blog. President Hoodie made the decision to limit the spread of the pixelated and badly size-ratioed X-Rated images by halting blog operations for the week while ViridianForge and Chaney teamed up to figure out just what the heck had gone wrong. If you decide to jump past the fold, you’ll find out just what they discovered. This article is heavy on the technical detail for us, so before you dive in, take a look at these adorable kittens.
Happy New Year ChipWINation! There are two things that are innate to the start of another recognized turn of our giant ball of mostly molten metal about the sun. The first is New Year’s health resolutions, and the second is motherfucking MAGFest. Now, as a reader, you’re probably thinking those two things have almost nothing in common, and frankly, you’d pretty much be right. In fact, after my first trip to MAGFest last year, I’d go so far as to say they’re negatively correlated. See, the key component to getting and staying fit is good nutrition. I’ll get into defining that below the fold, but I’m sure we can all agree you’ll be hard pressed to find it at MAGFest.
That’s okay. Get yourselves to MAG, party your asses off, and then come back to this article. Seriously, its on the Internet now. Its not going anywhere.
