ChipWIN-tern Presents: Networking and Brand Management

Posted by

Hello everyone. For this month, I decided instead of an album review or talking about a concert I thought that I might perhaps offer some help to the community at large by addressing one of the things I see as a major common weakness: poor brand management. “Wait what,” I hear you say, “why are you teaching me an Intro to Business course here? I just want some dank bleep bloops, bro!” And that’s fine, because at the end of the day is not a man entitled to the bleep from his bloops? But for those of you who are interested in getting senpai to notice you, and by senpai I mean potential fans and friends, then I have some broad and functional advice for you in terms of making sure that what music you have is available to the most people and you can start being that cool kid who wears pastel colored 80’s and 90’s era windbreaker jackets, clear Wayfarer glasses, a geeky Snapback and patterned leggings that all the convention-goers want to throw their parents’ money at. Or whatever it is YOU deem as commercial success, I guess.

The Unicorn Princess Royally Reviews ‘workplace ergonomics’ by nmlstyl

Happy June, folks!

This month on the blog, I display to you all a modest delayed reaction on a spring release that I enjoyed recently. ‘workplace ergonomics’ was released on April 23rd, 2018 by Philly based musician, visual artist, and coder, nmlstyl.  While I was shocked that it hadn’t already been reviewed here, there were absolutely no surprises on my end as to how gorgeous this record turned out to be.

POST-PAX PAX-PACKED PAX-POST 2018 (ft. bory of geekbeatradio)

Posted by

Greetings and salutations friends! It’s that time once again for a massive postmortem on PAX East. This year, I’m joined by bory of geekbeatradio who was the head of the MAGFest Jamspace this year and also responsible for booking all of our amazing acts. As this article does traditionally cover both the music and gaming portions of PAX East, bory will be covering the music and I will be covering the games – and as per usual, you can navarkigate to each portion by searching #MUSIC or #GAMES. This time around we’ve got a big article for ya, so don’t hesitate to use those to jump around.

Hey y’all! ( ´ ▽ ` )ノ It’s once again time for this month’s edition of my blog interview column, Hoodie Highlights!

April’s down-to-Earth chat features a talented singer/songwriter, chipmusician, knowledgeable curator, and all around swell guy. He’s also a lover of both sharks and donuts, so of course I’ve gotta talk to him.

Everyone, welcome Sam Mulligan to The ChipWIN Blog!

The ChipWIN-tern Spotlight: ‘Shark Party’ by Sam Mulligan

Posted by

“OH MY GOD, IT’S A SHARK PARTY!” If you’re Sam Mulligan, this is a sentence you’ve been singing a lot over the years. If you’re not Sam Mulligan but like his work, you’ll be shouting this today because ‘Shark Party’ is the name of his new album containing a number of tracks he’s sung live over the years but never recorded along with a few new gems. I’m so happy to get to yammer on about this album on this, its release day (and on the second day Sam is playing live shows to show it off, AND ON HIS BIRTHDAY HAPPY BIRTHDAY SAM!).

On House Shows, Part One: Curating Shows At Non-Venues

Posted by

This month, as opposed to highlighting an album or a show, I’d like to talk to you about something many of you have either considered throwing or have performed at when given the chance – house shows! This is to be the first of a few articles I’ll be throwing down about community building and scene management, as I feel that this particular topic is one that doesn’t get a whole lot of analysis and as a result there are mistakes that plague the scene at large that could be avoided. But enough preamble – let’s talk about house shows.
