Chip Mom’s Kitchen #38: Butter Tea Cookies

- Posted May 22nd, 2017 by

Brandon and I have slowly been turning into tea enthusiasts. So I thought that I’d make a little treat to go with our tea!

Butter Tea Cookies

I feel it was appropriate that I was watching One Punch Man while I baked this. More on that later.

Quest Items:
7 Tbsp Butter
2 Tbsp Sugar
1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
3/4 C Self Rising Flour
1 C powdered sugar
1 Tbsp Water

Musical Accompaniment:

Illustrated Guide:

Gird your loins, chipkids.  This wasn’t a fail, but Mom did have to persevere.

BUTTER!

BUTTER AND VANILLA AND SUGAR IN BLENDER!

FLUFFY BUTTER STUFF AND FLOUR IN BLENDER!

DOUGH IN…. piping bag?  Welp, I’ve never done this before.  Turns out you would have to have the upper body strength of One Punch Man to get this to work!

The hairy man person who lives in my house couldn’t even wrangle this stuff out of the bag.

WHO NEEDS NIBS TO MAKE THINGS PRETTY? NOT THIS GUY.

I scored the top of the cookies with the back of the fork, which made them look a lot less like sick caterpillars.  Bake at 325* F for 10 minutes.

POWDERED SUGAR AND WATER AND FOOD COLORING MAKES ICING!

FOR SOME REASON THIS TASTED LIKE SOAP.

Why? Why did it taste like soap.

I MADE IT AGAIN WITHOUT COLORING. STILL SOAP.

Welp, my coloring is okay.

I MADE IT AGAIN IN A DIFFERENT BOWL. STILL SOAP.

Google tell me what is wrong.

APPARENTLY SOME BRANDS OF POWDERED SUGAR HAVE CORN STARCH IN THEM AND THAT TASTES NASTY.

So we did what any other sane couple would do after wasting 3 cups of powdered sugar and we ate them un-iced.

That’s your Chip Mom lesson of the day folks.  Keep moving forward.  Stay determined.  Persist.  FORTIFY!

In the end, you get cookies.  And maybe tea.  And no matter what, Chip Mom loves ya!
