Generally when I’m planning a recipe to share, I take some time to peruse my cookbooks or I take inspiration from what’s going on in my life. It is quite handy to feature something on the blog that I can bring to a party or potluck that week, that way I’m not responsible for scarfing all of it! My mom is a professional muncher. A nibbler. A grazer. She doesn’t eat much at a sitting, preferring to make something yummy in large quantities she can piecemeal out over the week, something that gets better as it sits in the fridge. BUT I DIGRESS.

Today I am making one of my family’s classic dishes…

Cooking for this article gives me a wonderful excuse to try to find new and different recipes that are not only delicious, but are often straight forward for the novice baker. I also like to find things that are quick to make because sometimes time is limited and we don’t want to spend the afternoon in the kitchen when we could be played Zelda or Hollow Knight or OneShot or Rocket League. But this month, I felt a call towards my traditional roots (and the Penzey’s Cinnamon in my cupboard), so we’re going to make…
