Kuma’s Quick Shots: Round 20

Posted by

Hey there, ChipWINners! Welcome back to Quick Shots, my monthly album review column that brings you the latest from the scene to help you determine if something is right for you.  This month, I’ll be reviewing four new albums from friends in the scene that are at different points in their careers.  While some are just getting back in the scene, or are continuing to thrive in it, one is taking their final bow, and leaving us with a parting gift before they move on with their lives.  It’s going to be a bittersweet journey this time, folks.  So take a seat, plug in those headphones, and get ready for a rollercoaster of feels, as we look at music from The Laohu, +Let’s Disinfect+, StarStorm, and BitTrashRiot.

Glenntai Got… Awesome Songs to Blast for your Hungover Friends

Feels vaguely familiar...

This feels vaguely familiar of bad (or great) decisions…

We’ve arrived at that time of the year once again.  St. Patrick’s Day has passed, and the world is celebrating the hangover felt around the world. While it’s no secret that the drinking scene has a chiptune problem, I figured I would share a list of songs guaranteed to make anybody hungover immediately regret being within earshot.

You may be wondering, “Wait, does this mean you think these songs aren’t good?”  That’s far from the truth.  I happen to like all of these songs; they all just happen to be heavy, loud, abrasive, or chaotic. If you’re looking for high-energy, chip thrash, or just a few ways to get revenge on your roommate  thinking “pissing all over the couch while completely shitfaced” was HILARIOUS, I’ve got you covered after the jump.

Kuma’s Quick Shots: Round 10

Sup ChipWINners? Welcome back to Quick Shots, the album review column where I take a gander at new releases and throw my fifty cents in on their overall quality. This time around, instead of reviewing albums from a few underdogs in the scene, I’ve taken the time to look over releases from three artists that I first became familiar with because of Chiptunes = WIN! Each of these artists were all featured in ChipWIN Vol. 1 and not only have I loved them all since then, but I’ve seen them continue to grow and change in ways that have made me look at music differently. So without further ado, I’d like for you guys to join me as I take a gander at new music from Lukhash, Whitely, and +Let’s Disinfect!+!

Inside The Daякcнip Mind of Tommy Creep

Hello, Frank here again for another installment of Inside The Daякcнip Mind. All the hype is going to the full album ‘Chainsaw Witches‘ by ‘Tommy Creep.’ This album came out on April 29th, he also has physical copies that include a poster and sticker besides the CD that will start shipping by the time you read this! This album really drew me in various ways, the variety of it is pure greatness/genius in my book & I haven’t gotten tired of looping this since it came out yet!

Inside The Daякcнip Mind of +LET’S DISINFECT!+

Hey everyone, Frank here. Long time since I’ve done an article, but oh boy do I have something good for all of yins! This album just recently came out & I have had it on my loop playlist since it’s dropped. I think after what you read and hear you will totally understand the hype I’m throwing off on this jem!

The artist & album I speak of is ‘+LET’S DISINFECT!+’s newest release ‘Raskulachivanie,’ which came out on March 17th. The over-all feeling of this album would be haunting, grimy & very danceable. I love the flow of this album and how every track it makes you want to hear more. The exceptional songwriting and sequencing makes you question if it’s just one big song! Not to mention the immense LSDJ work on this album. (more…)
