‘ChipWINter Wilderness’ is LIVE! Both digitally and via cassette (!!!) here: https://chiptuneswin.bandcamp.com/album/chipwinter-wilderness

Heya ChipWINners! ( ´ ▽ ` )ノ ʷᵃᵛᵉˢ

2018 is quickly drawing to a close, and this, of course, means that it’s time once again for the winter holidays! A big part of that for many of us includes holiday music.

Although now that I think about it, the last time that we released a ‘ChipWINter‘ compilation was in 2014. What say we fix that this December? (^_−)−❄️

Spellbinding ‘ChipWINter Wilderness’ album artwork by Nate Horsfall. Totes channeling a lil’ Bob Ross this round methinks! ♥

Chip Bit Sid Takes On : HarleyLikesMusic – Steel City Zone

Posted by

For this week’s review, I have the distinct pleasure of reviewing the newest album of one of my biggest influences – HarleyLikesMusic’s new ‘Steel City Zone’ as released on Thebasebit. I’ve known Harley for a few years now, first meeting him just before he got into making music on LSDJ and to say his music leaves an impression would be an understatement. After two wildly successful albums released on the Cheapbeats label, Harley is back again with his old tricks – and some new ones too. As someone who cites Harley as a major influencer of my own techniques, I think I’m quite lucky that I get the chance to talk about this with you – it’s not often one gets to discuss someone who has brought so much to the LSDJ game.

Chip Bit Day 2017 – Free cake, alien balloons and Europe’s finest Chipmusic!

May 6th saw the return of Chip Bit Day; a celebration of Chiptune organised by Richard Lewis who you might know as blogger ‘Chip! Bit! Sid!‘ or by his musical pseudonym ‘Jellyatrix.’ Primarily funded by fans using sites like Indiegogo, Chip Bit Day’s second year was just as popular as the debut! With a lineup including festival favourites such as HarleyLikesMusic, and plenty of free goodies from Game Boy cartridge stickers of the performing artists to delicious cake, crowdfunders definitely got plenty for their money. I arrived good and early on the Saturday afternoon, ready for the hard slog of an 8-hour Chiptune marathon to find a few others eager for the show to start.

2016 has been an truly eventful year, with both positive & negative things happening all around us. Chiptune has been a huge part of this year, especially for me. I have reviewed so much music that I was practically reviewing a new album every other week, so it’s obvious that I would have come across some chiptune music that didn’t quite hit me, but when taking another listen later on down the line, a few gems have blown me away. To sum up, here are 3 songs that have grown on me over the year 2016.

Aydan Appreciates: ‘Game Changer’ by HarleyLikesMusic

Posted by

HarleyLikesMusic is a name that’s been popping up in the chipscene, and for good reason. ‘Game Changer’, both his first foray into the realm of 8-bit music and his Cheapbeats debut, is a game changer in every sense of the word. Every single track on the album showcases Harley’s ability to stretch the Game Boy’s sound chip to beyond the limitations I imagined it had. Let’s take a look at a few tracks and see exactly how Harley’s managed this incredible feat!
