THIS IS IT. We’ve come up to the last ten tracks of Volume 7, and I can’t begin to express the rollercoaster of emotion that was experiencing this album without being able to share the hype with everyone in our Discord channel during the release party.

Fortunately, I have a platform where I can have opinions regardless of how right or wrong I can be (thanks, Internet! <3), so without further ado, it’s time to jump into the first track on my list to cover!

Chiptunes = WIN: Volume 4 [Tracks 16 – 20]

Describing the next five tracks from our 4th compilation album is a lot like plucking five roses from a stunning bouquet, or stacking five bacon pancakes onto your plate from a pile fresh off the griddle: you can’t go wrong, and they taste even better with syrup. (Chiptunes = WIN does not endorse the practice of eating syrup-coated roses. Chiptunes = WIN does, however, heavily endorse bacon pancakes.)

Volume 4 is a gathering of the best from all corners of the community. There are only beacons of chiptune mastery here, and though your personal tastes may steer you toward some songs over others, each track is a curated experience, and all come highly recommended.

Without further ado, I am honoured to bring you Chiptunes = WIN: Volume 4’s tracks 16 through 20. Come listen!

Glenntai Got: ‘Star Bride’ by Zantilla (‘Tentacle Tea Party’, anyone?)

There is something that can be said about those who incorporate chip elements into making a larger-scale composition.  Many of these people, such as Marshall Art, Danimal Cannon, Professor Shyguy, and Dunderpatrullen (to name a few) have blown audiences away with their own unique visions of how they want to musically express themselves.

One name comes to mind; and it genuinely surprises me that I had not heard of him before early October of 2014 at a wonderful show put together in the outskirts of Orlando, Florida.  That name is Zantilla. And, much like how I felt when I heard him perform on stage for the first time, get ready to be engulfed through a groove-filled, funky soundscape.  One where tentacles have tea parties that (surprisingly, yet refreshingly) won’t give you the feel of a certain alternative Solarbear album cover.
