A Square Meal: ‘Sine Sleep Session EP’ by Saitone

Posted by

When a long day finally comes to an end, there are just a few things we can say are ‘universally pleasant’: taking your shoes off, laying on the bed with your face on the pillow, drinking or eating something, playing some music, or taking a shower to name a few. Thinking on those little pleasures sometimes is the reason we hold ourselves together and keep going through a hard day. This time I want to bring to you a tremendous EP that would be useful in a situation like the one I just described – I’m talking about ‘Sine Sleep Session EP’ by Saitone, released through Future Disorder.

Aydan Appreciates: ‘Chip Songbook Vol. 7’ by Yoann Turpin

You like jazz? I sure do. Jazz music is the foundation for numerous music genres nowadays, including progressive, funk, swing, world fusion, and… chipjazz. Of course, the one that’s likely the most relevant to our community is chipjazz, and what would the genre be without one of its greatest contributors, Yoann Turpin? An extremely prolific and talented artist, Yoann has been featured several times on the blog, and for good reason; his music is beautifully composed, catchy, and impressive in every sense of the word. Just last month he released ‘Chip Songbook Vol. 7’; the name alone is a great example of just how much music this artist has put out, and this is just as wonderful an album as the many others that he’s put forth. What aural fables lie in wait for us? There’s only one way to find out!

Chris Considers: ‘Don’t Be Anxious’ by little-scale

Posted by

Last week was downright facemelting here on the ChipWIN blog. It all started with Joe’s review of Danimal Cannon’s shredtacular new progressive chiprock masterpiece ‘Lunaria’, and ended with Glenntai’s curated collection of chipthrash that’s enough to make your ears bleed. Well, it’s freaking Monday again. Time to take things down many notches and focus on something much more ambient in nature. This gives me the opportunity not only to highlight a revered veteran of the chipmusic scene, little-scale (Sebastian Tomczak), but also to showcase just how versatile artists within the chiprealm can be, covering every inch of the musical spectrum. If you’re looking to relax, get lost in deep introspection, and otherwise decompress, then look no further than little-scale’s recently released EP, ‘Don’t Be Anxious’.

Welcome to the sunny June edition of Stokin’ the Forge ChipWINners! This month it is my distinct pleasure to present you with the chill-chip contained on LoneMoon’s latest album, ‘photographs’. As a whole, the music rolls across the ear soothingly, warmly encouraging a listener to kick back and let their troubles melt away. It pairs sublimely with anything that involves pretending the rest of the world doesn’t exist. Join me on the other side of the fold and we’ll dive into my favorite tracks.
