Hoodie Highlights… Lars Shurilla of SLC Chip!

Posted by

Happy November, folks! For this month’s interview, I talked to a multi-instrument & multi-alias chipmusican & event curator friend of mine. This cat’s done quite a bit over the last handful of years (even more than I realized!), and shows no signs of stopping any time soon!

ChipWIN-tern’s Netlabels To Keep An Eye On

Posted by

I know we here at ChipWIN generally tend to stay away from Buzzfeed-y listicle-type articles, but with all the different music coming out these days it can be super hard to actually keep up with everything. If you don’t know where to look, you’ll miss something great – and if you DO know where to look, all your friends will love you for giving them dank music recommendations!* (*Note: ChipWIN does not guarantee love of any kind regardless of the circumstance.)

While this is by no means an exhaustive list, here’s some of my favorite places to find chiptune and chiptune-adjacent music.

Chip Bit Sid Takes On: Four Small Songs #3

Posted by

Hello chiptunerds! It’s good to finally get back to ‘Four Small Songs’! I wasn’t able to post last month unfortunately, but that didn’t deter people from adding their music on the soundcloud group. This month has had some fantastic songs, so relax, put your feet up & enjoy some fine chiptune, circa 2016!

Let’s do this thing!

Chip Bit Sid Takes On: Chema64 – ‘VIZIERS’

Posted by

Unfortunately no ‘4 smalls songs’ this month, instead I’ll be looking at Chema64’s VIZIERS. A bit of context, Chema64 is an LSDJ artist who resides in Mexico City, Mexico. For his music he solely just uses Nintendo Gameboys, creating a mayhem of different sounds. As well as that, Chema64 also founded 56kpsrecords, a netlabel whose goal is to promote chiptune music. Before I begin reviewing, this is the first time I’ve listened to Chema64’s music and I must say it is probably one of the most hard hitting, glitched music I’ve heard, all whilst still containing a groove through out and pouring some sweet WAV dubstep into the mix. It’s hard to believe that all this music has actually been done entirely on LSDJ.

Chip Bit Sid Takes On: Four Small Songs #2

Hello guys! It’s good to be back bring another helping of Four Small Songs! Last month was it’s first outing and I got a lot of good feedback from the small artists that I featured. In case you missed out, Four Small Songs is a monthly article series which features music from the unknown artists, who can’t get quite out there. All the music is sourced from Chip Bit Sid’s sound cloud group. If you wish to see your music featured add your music to the group!

Now with that out of the way, Let’s hit the tunes!
